3 GP’s move from converted semi to three storey purpose built Surgery

Project status: Owned by GP’s

Project brief: Originally a 3 GP practice housed in a converted semi-detached property with limited car parking. As list sizes continued to rise in the area, the PCT gave their support for a new purpose built 6 GP surgery.

Project solution: In Feb 2002 the practice chose to appoint Ashley House as their preferred development partner. July that same year we found a site owned by Redrow Homes who were developing in the area. By Feb 2004 the planning consent was granted and the construction began. The building spans over 3 floors, housing 6 consulting rooms, 2 treatment rooms, Health Visitor and District Nurse accommodation. The building also provides 100 m² of space for the PCT and 85 m² for a pharmacy.

Points of interest: The principal challenge was design: trying to squeeze a 6 GP surgery on a site of 0.2 acres whilst satisfying planning requirements.
