Development of new purpose built Surgery Premises

Description:
Single Storey  2 GP premises to include Dispensary

Project Status:
Completed

Project brief:
A Single handed GP ‘start up’ Surgery housed on a ‘temporary basis’ in a Portacabin which is  located in the Village Hall car park has,  out of necessity been extended over the period of its 11 year existence. New purpose built premises were required. The Dorset PCT supported the Practice, subject the GP planning his own succession.

Project solution:
A local Farmer’s land was identified, which had stunning views of Corfe Castle. The site was subsequently acquired by a Social Housing development company, which gained a planning consent for its housing, on the condition a Surgery was included in the scheme.  Their Surgery design, produced in consultation with the GP, for a two storey building  was too costly and had to be aborted.  The GP contacted Ashley House to instruct a redesign. Planning was granted for a single story building, designed to reflect the vernacular of Corfe Castle village, and conditioned to be built in local Perbeck stone.
