Description: 5GP Practice, pharmacy plus innovative joint venture between Ashley House
Clinical Services and local GPs.
Project Status: Completion December 2011.
Project brief: Cowplain Family Practice is currently operating at a fraction of the space required
for a practice of that size. With the anticipated increase in the number of patients in the practice,
partly as a consequence of a local major new development, the requirement for a new premises
to serve the local population has become very evident.
Project solution: Cowplain Family Practice will be a training practice and in the new building
there will be 10 consulting rooms and 2 treatment rooms. This is necessary to accommodate the
5 doctors and associated nurses that work here.
From the new premises Cowplain Family Practice will be able to offer the full range of services
that would be expected from a modern primary care centre.
On the ground floor of the new building there will also be situated a new 100 square metre
Pharmacy which will be directly accessible from both the GP Surgery and London Road allowing
prescription collection and healthcare purchases outside GP hours.
Points of interest: On the upper floors there will be a range of other complimentary healthcare
related services which will include an NHS dentist
Enhanced pedestrian access will be provided for and all vehicular access for both cars and service
vehicles will form a new point of access improving visibility and safety
