Start date:
April 2005
Completion date:
February 2006
Project Status:
Completed
Project situation: Occupied by GP Practice which relocated from Pevensey Bay
Project brief: To locate a site for a new Surgery, with room for further expansion, on behalf of the PCT, to serve a new large residential development in Stone Cross, for which local GP’s were required to tender.
Project solution: Modern, compliant, purpose built premises offering general medical services, associated contracted Pharmacy services and a Dental practice offering services to NHS patients.
Points of interest: A site designated in a Local Centre, as part of the 1990 Section 106 planning agreement, providing for 1 GP was inadequate to provide the size of building required to satisfy the new NHS guidelines in 2003. Following long negotiations, we were able to acquire a site designated for community use, which was imminently to revert back to residential. To make the project financially viable we had to include space for a Pharmacy within the build. An enquiry from a Dentist, which satisfied one of the PCT aspirations for the scheme, prompted the decision to build the dental surgery, and include the future expansion space above, to shell specification.
