From cramped conditions to purpose built surgery with pharmacy

Project description: Premises occupied by a 5 GP training practice with provision of space for private consultancy and a Pharmacy

Project brief: AH were asked to assist in the relocation of the practice out of their cramped three story converted residential property, with no parking facility, into expanded premises from which they could extend the number of healthcare services provided.

Project solution: An innovative and carefully negotiated school site was acquired from the County Council on which both the purpose built Surgery, inclusive of provision of private space and a Pharmacy, and also a new sports, music and drama hall for the School were built.

Points of interest: New Malden is a very densely populated area with little or no spare land. AH approached the School with a proposal that we demolished their two old temporary buildings to provide a site large enough for their urgently required new sports hall and music and drama department, which they had been unsuccessful in attracting lottery monies, as well as the much needed new Surgery premises.

Since the new Surgery opened the patient list has grown by over 25%.
