Description: 9GP practice with PCT Clinical Services, Out of Hours, Dental Practice & Pharmacy
Project situation: Provision of premises to accommodate; 4GP practice with PCT Clinical Services, Out of Hours, Dental Practice & Pharmacy
Project brief: AH were selected to assist in the relocation of the practice out of their cramped 2 storey converted residential property, into expanded premises from which they could extend the number of healthcare services provided. To negotiate the purchase of a Council owned town centre site for relocation of the Surgery into a Primary Health Care Centre.
Project solution: Two storey modern, compliant, fit for purpose premises offering general medical services with minor injury treatment centre
Points of interest: The Council owned site formerly housed the old Dorking Swimming Pool and a Snooker Hall, as well as housing purchased by Sainsbury’s as part of an intention to accumulate land to create a site for a Supermarket. That proposal was refused permission and the site was subsequently sold, with the swimming pool filled in and levelled. The new Primary Health Care Centre is now sited adjacent to the new Leisure Centre. Following long negotiations with the Council who were both vendor and planner, we agreed sale terms and satisfied the high demands of the planning department who had very strict criteria on the building design while needing to satisfy the need to attract the highest capital receipt for the whole site which was also sold for some housing.
