An integrated healthcare solution for Balsall Common residents
Works began on site on 9th June on the New Integrated Primary Care Centre for Balsall Common. The completed building will provide 1691 sqm GIA of space including a 150sqm pharmacy. The Balsall Common & Meriden Group Practice will relocate to the new premises as will the nearby Balsall Common Clinic, operated by Solihull Primary Care Trust. The PCT space will house a community nursing team and an NHS Dentist. Terms have also been agreed with Lloyds Pharmacy to operate the retail pharmacy from the building
Project Brief
The current facilities in Balsall Common are not fit for purpose and besides replacing these the aim is to bring services together and provide choice.
Project Solution
A detailed site search was carried out and a site located at Riddings Hill was the only available, affordable and viable site that offered sufficient space for a new building and associated car parking. Terms were agreed with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and the site was purchased from them.
“the new health centre will significantly improve the working conditions of all staff and doctors at Balsall Common. We want to bring more patient care closer to home giving the patients the same opportunities and access to care as other patients throughout Solihull and surrounding areas. The provision of Primary Health Care is undergoing significant change, the new health centre will allow the practice and patients to take full advantage of these changes in the delivery and receipt of healthcare. Everyone at the practice is looking forward to working with patients and other agencies to make the most of this wonderful opportunity.”
Joanne Hope, Practice Manager at Balsall Common and Meriden Group Practice
“Working with the end users, the Medical Topics Group and the community we have been able to work together as an effective team to design a building fit for purpose that will benefit the local community for years to come”
Janet Marston Development at Ashley House;
‘Healthcare investment in infrastructure is a crucial ingredient in the delivery of the essential foundations required to support existing healthcare needs and to provide the capacity for future service development as these needs change. The new ‘state of the art’ Health Centre will enable healthcare professionals to best support the growing Balsall Common population and to focus engagement with the local community to maximise the use of these new resources whilst ensuring a firm grip on the performance and delivery of both traditional and emerging services’.
