A single access point for a range of health services for the local community
Description: 2GP Practice including dental and podiatry services
Project Status: Planning application submitted February 2009
Project brief: As part of the redevelopment of the old Wellsbourne site in Whitehawk, Ashley House were tasked with developing phase two. This will provide new premises for two local GP Surgeries, a base for District Nurses and dental and podiatry services provided by South Downs Health. A pharmacy completes
the range of services that will be available to the local community.
Project solution: The innovatively designed building is linked to the existing Childrens Centre, built as phase one, and incorporates sustainable features such as:
- bio-diverse roof
- ground source heat pump
- sun pipes to allow natural light and ventilation.
Points of interest: Ashley House worked closely with the Council, PCT and existing users of the site to ensure future flexibility. As a result Phase three, further community facilities, are currently at the design stage.
