Ashley House were asked to re-house 2 forward thinking local GP practices who
wanted to be at the Heart of the re-generation of the Shields Road area in
Byker, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. AH worked with the local Council to identify
a suitable site.
The PCT responded very positively to the opportunity and brought in the concept of including an Urgent Care centre to allow patients to be treated locally without attending A&E for all but the most serious of problems. A project team was then formed with all the occupants to develop the design for an integrated facility.
The result is a hugely innovative facility, built-in a re-generation area that will serve the community for many years to come. It has been built to allow changes in configuration to service solutions as patient needs change.
