Realising a vision to provide brand new community based facilities
Regenerating the local area and bringing together two GP Practices into a purpose built sustainable environment built to BREEAM Excellent standard. The integrated medical centre includes Primary Care, a pharmacy and additional self-contained rooms for separate Healthcare providers.
The combination of different facilities and Practices has created a convenient one-stop shop for the local Community, and will deliver an enhanced standard of primary care.
The new 1,500 square metre medical centre was delivered in partnership with Healthcare investor Assura Group and is located on the site of the old NHS clinic and church hall. It replaces the former Parkway and Holmside surgeries in Frenton Close.
What we did
13th March 2014 marked the official opening of the new Primary Care Centre, the development took years of determination from all, led by the Ashley House development team. Success was finally ensured through the purchase and assembly of different parcels of land to realise the Community vision, providing brand new facilities and regenerating the locality.
Points of interest
The new facilities bring together two established GP practices (Parkway and Holmside from Frenton Close) in a purpose-built sustainable environment (built to BREEAM Excellent standard) together with an additional 140 square metres of Community space available for rent, all combined with a Lloyds pharmacy in the heart of the Community.
“The new premises are even better than wonderful”, says Dr Andrew Price – Senior Partner, Holmside Medical Group. “They make being at work a pleasure. Everyone feels better – even the patients it seems!”
Michael Foster, Practice Manager Holmside Medical Group, Newcastle West CCG, said: “This project was in the pipeline for a long time, so it has given everyone involved a great feeling of satisfaction to see our plans for the surgery finally realised. We are thrilled with the new medical centre, and look forward to watching our staff and patients enjoying its benefits for years to come.”
