New high-quality Burnholme care home, York, reaches financial close
Morgan Ashley is delighted to announce that contracts have been signed and work is starting on a stunning, state of the art 80 bed care home providing high quality residential, nursing and memory care for local elderly people in Burnholme, York.
The development is due to open Summer 2020 and is part of a larger Health and Wellbeing Hub for this part of the City.
The Burnholme project is part of the older persons’ accommodation programme which seeks to address the needs of York’s ageing population. The programme will make the best use of York’s existing extra care housing by making it more accessible for people with higher care needs, and replacing older people’s homes with a wide range of more modern accommodation which meets modern care standards.
Sharon Houlden, Corporate Director for Health, Housing and Adult Social Care said: “This is another significant step in the Older Persons’ Accommodation Programme which, once complete, will see 900 new units of accommodation for older people in York. We look forward to seeing the site develop and welcoming the first residents at the new care home in 2020.”
HC One’s CEO Justin Hutchens said: “HC-One’s mission is to be the first-choice care provider for older people, and the employer of choice for the kindest and most professional care workers. We are delighted to be working in partnership with City of York Council to develop a service that truly meets the needs of the local community, and we’re looking forward to continuing this partnership once the home opens in 2020.
“HC-One prides itself on investing significantly in our services and our people, with a particular focus on creating meaningful training and career development opportunities that professionalise and reward our Colleagues. Through this approach, our Colleagues can provide the kindest care to Residents.”
Morgan Ashley’s Jonathan Holmes said: “this will be a fabulous home for 80 older York residents and we are so pleased to be delivering it with the City of York and HC One. Morgan Ashley specialises in working with high quality Housing Associations and Care providers to build socially beneficial homes for older people with care needs. Whilst we are now on site with over 200 extra care apartments and bungalows with another 200 soon to follow, this scheme shows there also remains a need for high quality new care homes.”
